Meat Loaf: Bat Out of Hospital

Meat Loaf Lisa O'Connor/ZUMAPress.com

Looks like Meat Loaf came down with a case of the Janet Jacksons.

The classic rocker has been discharged from a London hospital after undergoing three days of "testing and evaluation" for an undisclosed ailment…not that it was all that undisclosed earlier in the week.

The Bat Out of Hell singer was admitted to the London Clinic on Monday night, going directly to the private hospital after a literally trippy appearance at the Q Awards, where he was honored with the Classic Song gong for his 1979 hit.

Axl's Democracy Guns for Release Date

Axl Rose Kevin Mazur / Getty Images

Another day, another round of Chinese whispers.

We'll have to see—or, rather, hear—it to believe it, but Billboard is reporting that Chinese Democracy, the comically delayed Guns N' Roses album, will finally be released Nov. 23, exactly 15 years to the day since their last release, The Spaghetti Incident?

The album will be available exclusively at Best Buy on the date—a Sunday, rather than the usual album release day of Tuesday—and will be preceded by two singles. "Shackler's Revenge" debuted last month as part of the Rock Band 2 video game, while "If the World" plays over the closing credits of the Leonardo DiCaprio-Russell Crowe thriller Body of Lies, in theaters today.

Uh, Dr Pepper? Consider your bluff called.

What do you think? Will Axl's industry punchline album make good on its release date?

Britney Takes the Question Right Out of Our Mouths

Britney Spears is reminiscing about what life was like at the crossroads.

"I'm a smart person, what the hell was I thinking?" the comebacking pop star asks herself, probably rhetorically, in an upcoming MTV documentary addressing where she went wrong—and how she's getting herself back in the zone after coming thisclose to becoming a total lost cause.

Or worse, yesterday's news.

The appropriately, albeit tentatively, titled For the Record is slated to premiere Nov. 30 on MTV, two days before she turns 27 and releases her sixth studio album, Circus.

"So much has gone on over the last couple of years and there's a lot that people don't know about me that I want them to know," Spears said in a statement about the 90-minute special, which will feature the divorced mother of two answering what we'd like to believe will be tough questions about her recent past, as well as behind-the-scenes footage of her latest adventures recording, shooting her "Womanizer" video and making personal appearances.

"I wanted to make this film because I started to feel like I wasn't being seen in the light that I wanted to be seen in," she added. "This is an opportunity to set the record straight and talk about what I've been through and where I'm headed."

Janet Jackson is ready for more onstage escapades.

A rep for the veteran pop star said Wednesday that Jackson is ready to continue the North American leg of her Rock Witchu tour after sitting out a handful of dates to recover from an unspecified ailment.

Due to all the reshuffling, she has decided against playing NYC's Madison Square Garden on Oct. 16 but will be back on the road Oct. 11 at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn.

More from Marc Malkin

Can you picture it: Ne-Yo jammin' onstage with Marilyn Manson?

Well, it just may become a reality. The R&B crooner says he and the wackadoo rock star are totally serious about collaborating.

"It's going to be interesting," Ne-Yo said the other night at the L.A. premiere of The Secret Life of Bees. "I have no idea what we're going to do, what it's going to sound like. Just Ne-Yo and Marilyn Manson in the same room—we're going to figure something out."

Foos Fighting With McCain

Foo Fighters Wayne Starr/Express UK/ZUMAPress.com

The Foo Fighters have taken a break from their hiatus to announce that John McCain is not their hero.

The Grammy-winning rockers have issued a statement demanding the GOP presidential contender stop using their 1998 hit "My Hero" at campaign rallies—saying they don't approve his message.

"This isn't the first time the McCain campaign has used a song without making any attempt to get approval or permission from the artist. It's frustrating and infuriating that someone who claims to speak for the American people would repeatedly show such little respect for creativity and intellectual property," the Foos said in a statement.

Choose Your Favorite Beyoncé Single

Happy B'day everyone. You know how much Beyoncé loves us all? Enough to gift us with not one but two new singles on the same day.

(Considering she recorded 70 songs for her self-titled album, due out Nov. 18, she could release a single a day over the next month and still have plenty left over.)

First up is "If I Were a Boy"—a ballad in which B. ponders what it would be like drinking beer with the boys, chasing after girls, putting her(him?)self first and treating girlfriends like crap. Although if she were a boy, she would treat her girlfriend better than all that, natch.

If gender-bending ballads aren't your thing, you have the option of listening to "Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)."

Yoko: Imagine There's No Lawsuit

Yoko Ono Chris Farina/WireImage.com

Yoko Ono's giving peace a chance.

John Lennon's widow and EMI Records have agreed to withdraw their copyright- and trademark-infringement complaint against the producers of the right-wing documentary Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed for using a fragment of the late Beatle's seminal "Imagine" without permission.

The decision was announced by the Stanford Law School's Fair Use Project on its website.

"We think it was clear from the beginning that our clients had every right to use the 'Imagine' clip as they did, and we're happy we've vindicated that right," said Anthony Falzone, the professor who spearheaded the legal action.

Ono and the label filed suit in federal court in April seeking to block the distribution of the controversial Ben Stein-hosted Darwin-bashing film because producer Premise Media failed to license the "Imagine" clip. The song will be left out of the DVD release of the film.

Dancing With Rocco: Pussycats & Mashed Potatoes

More from Marc Malkin

Rocco DiSpirito says it was not his choice to do a Viennese waltz to Tom Jones' camp classic "What's New Pussycat?" on last night's Dancing With the Stars.

"We were stymied by the song for about a day," DiSpirito tells me of the tune picked by producers. "But then we figured out how to channel our inner pussycats."

Unfortunately those inner pussycats only brought the chef and his partner Karina Smirnoff 20 points from the judges, nearly the lowest score. Kooky Cloris Leachman was once again on the bottom with just 16.

Read on to find out what the handsome celebrity chef has to say about Bruno's food references, an injured Misty May-Treanorand the song he'd really like to dance to.

Wow! That was some outfit you wore last night. So is all white slimming?
It started out as an all velvet fuchsia outfit, so you see I did really well here.

Idol's Taylor Hicks Goes Indie

Taylor Hicks Nancy Kaszerman/ZUMA Press

Taylor Hicks is adding to the recent surge of news to come from otherwise forgotten American Idol types, announcing his next album will drop Feb. 10, 2009.

After getting dumped by J Records earlier this year, the season-five Idol champ will be releasing the still-untitled album through the indie company Artist to Market with an assist from his own label, Modern Whomp Records, to "connect more directly with audiences."

The Silver Fox has already begun work on the follow-up to his platinum-selling debut, teaming with producer Simon Climie, who has previously collaborated with the likes of Eric Clapton, Carlos Santana and Faith Hill.

"I'm very much enjoying being in the studio with Simon and working on the new album and look forward to releasing it," says Hicks

No doubt Hicks is looking forward to the release. The question is, is he the only one?
